I'm in pursuit of a 2nd gen Tacoma like this one that suffered the same fate, and the damages are also similar. The driver told me that the telephone pole broke from the impact. I'm doing the exact same thing, with 2011 4runner in Colorado ( the crappy insurance companies here total a vehicle if there is 50% of the value in repair, even though the law is 100% of FMV). List of items done so far: new upper control arm and bolt, new driver side inner apron, new front body mount bushing and bolt (with new weld-on frame mount). Next items: new fuse box (lower & mid section) and new radiator support. That really is the hardest work left.

Did you have to remove heat shield? I have the same problem with my kids 2003 jetta with 480km on it. Hate to replace the rack on this dinosaur lol.

My o5 gli jetta 1.8 t 6-speed o2m manual car came Factory with 18s BBS my buddy has an 04 GLI VR6 in my car sits lower from the factory then the VR6 now would my rack and pinion be any different from the others... I do believe I have the lowest ride height for an MK4 from the factory .... and I get confused cuz people tell me that my 05 GLI was only a six-month model and a few things was different I'd like to know exactly what those are LOL I've had the car for like 8 years now I know a lot of the car is the same as the other mk4s but I'd like to know just a few things that would different different as far as parts like you stated the racks can be different and that's good to know because I didn't know that but I just started to have a power steering problem the other day it was from a leak and it slowly lost power steering sorry for such a big no but you caught my attention when you stated something about the racks being different between some of the mk4s and it just so happens I just lost the power steering the other day after 8 years lol
